Now that spring has sprung and the warm weather is finally here I thought it would be a good time to discuss the ever popular boat shoe.
Whether you are a boating enthusiast or haven’t quite found your sea legs the boat shoe is becoming more and more popular amongst the masses. People are swapping out their casual footwear items and donning a good old fashioned deck shoe. And it’s understandable why as the boat shoe offers style and comfort that many styles these day struggle to match. So let’s dive in and discuss them.
By far the most well-known and popular brand of boat shoe is Sebago. Established in 1946 Sebago first produced a penny loafer. However, in 1970 they released their iconic ‘Dockside’ boat shoe which has now become synonymous with boating.

What’s great about a boat shoe is that they can work with almost all outfits. Of course the classic and most well-known is a deck shoe partnered with a good pair of shorts. This is the deck shoe’s natural habitat as traditionally made for mariners, this is what the boat shoe was born to do. And with summer round the corner what a better time to don the shorts and soak up the sun. A deck shoe is light as a feather and easy to wear so why not leave the flip flops this year and pop on a pair of Sebago.
Trousers and jeans
It’s not uncommon to see people partnering their deck shoes with a good pair of trousers or jeans and why not? They just work. Once broken in the boat shoe will undoubtedly be one of the most comfortable pair of shoes that you own and so no doubt they will be your go to shoe with any dress down outfit.
