Trickers, Sanders and Loake shoes have one important feature in common:  their all make a traditionally goodyear welted shoe.  This is universally regarded as the very best method of shoe construction due to the use of unique leather welts.  The welt, a 20mm wide strip of leather, runs all around the outside of the shoe.  One side of the welt is stitched onto the upper of the shoe whilst the other half is stitched to the sole.  The very simple advantage of this technique is that when the sole of the shoe does eventually require replacement a new sole may be stitched to the welt without interfering and so weakening the upper leather.

Not all shoe repairers are skilled at goodyear welting repairs.  One option is to return your shoes to Sanders, Trickers or Loake respectively where they will repair your shoes and return them to you looking like new, at a price.  Alternatively get a good cobbler recommended or you might like to try the Bradshaw & Lloyd shoe repair service!  We not only repair Trickers, Sanders and Loake shoes but will look at all quality brands.  We charge £50 for a half leather or half rubber stitched sole and re-heel.  This price includes return carriage by courier throughout the UK.  In addition if you work in central London we provide a free courier collection service included in this price.  For more information contact repairs@bradshawandlloyd.com.
