With winter now fully upon us and the cold weather setting in I thought it would be a good time to discuss a few boots we offer for those brisk country walks.
The Loake Hiker
From the Loake 1880 Collection the Loake Hiker is a beautiful fully leather lined premium lace up boot. Handmade in Loake’s Wood Street factory in Northamptonshire. Goodyear welted onto ‘Commando’ rubber soles, not only for greater longevity but added grip for those rugged muddy walks. The Hiker is made on the 024 last. The 024 last has a country style that offers a more rounded toe and a medium ‘F’ fitting. However, the 024 last is a little roomier by design to allow for thicker socks to be worn. The Hiker is available in a stunning oxblood grain and brown waxed suede. People may worry about a hiking boot having a suede upper, however, the waxed properties of this suede results in a more weather proofed upper.
The Barker Glencoe
From the Barker Country collection the Glencoe is a stunning hiking boot that is both versatile and functional. Like the Loake Hiker, the Glencoe is handmade in Barker’s Northamptonshire factory using premium leathers. Goodyear welted onto ultra lightweight Vibram rubber soles. The Glencoe has an authentic bellows tongue which helps to keep the water out in wet weather. Made on the 29 last that offers a a classic country rounded toe shape and a standard ‘F’ fitting. The Glencoe is available in; cedar grain, cherry grain and navy grain.
